Production Planning

For the sound we wanted to keep it down to a minimum of sounds. We wanted the background noise to be mainly the sound of wind and perhaps a few others through out. We thought we could raise and lower the sound of the wind to create the suspense we wanted to get. We raised the sound of the wind at key moments such as the ending giving the opening a climax which would make the audience carry on watching.

These are some of the diegetic sounds that we used, The two above are of wind that plays through out the film opening and gives the production more eeriness and makes it more realistic. We layered a few wind sounds to make it sound like it would if it was actually was windy. We only added one or two non dietetic sounds such as the sound that gradually got louder in the points where there was more tenstion.

We wanted the clothes in out production to be able to relate to the target audience that we are aiming for. So in this case it would be 18-25 year olds. We did this by choosing clothes that people in that age range would possibly wear such as the jacket. As well as having the clothes in the right age range we also wanted the clothes to be fairly dark with colours such dark blues and blacks we didn't think that having bright and colourful clothes on would defeat the point of trying to make our production seem scary and from looking at real actors clothes in films in the same genre i realised that none of them were wearing colours such as yellows and or that many whites which kept the scene dark.

For our production we wanted to use clothes that people in our generation would most likely wear at some point. Even if it is not every day we wanted people to be able to relate to what to our protagonist. Even people slightly younger or older can still relate.

We filmed our production throughout a few days outside of college. All three of us met up at the location that we would be shooting at we tried to get there just before it started to get dark so you would see the sun gradually going down throughout our production. We filmed our production in the week we had off in February, we chose this day as we could stay out as late as possible to finish the last part of our film opening.
Day 1 of shooting : February 17th
Day 2 of shooting : February 26th

All of our group contributed to our production plot I firstly came up with the initial idea with the empty eerie field and the idea of him not knowing where he is after that me and Jake swapped ideas with each other and came up with some of the other ideas such as the cross cutting between the field and the protagonist getting interrogated. After that we shared our idea with Sam who refined the idea to get it to the idea that we are now going to use. Sam added the idea of him remembering himself being there before and we all agreed that It would be a good idea.

Our production will begin with the close ups this is where we will put the names of the people who star in the film and who made it. These title sequence will consist of close ups of the surroundings of the place that we are filming. Then it will cut out to a long shot to give you a better understanding of the setting. Then it will cut in to a medium shot of our protagonist. After the next few shots will be of our protagonist walking through a field. All you will be able to hear is eerie music and the sounds of crows. The protagonist will now be on the edge of the abandoned farm and looking at it. He will feeling himself being pulled in as he walks towards the house. Here we will add effects to give the film a eerie feel. We will use a POV shot as he walkings in to the house to see what he is seeing and as he sees something on the wall this where he will start looking around frantically because he feels like he has seen it before. This is where someone will come up behind him and will but a bag over is head.

We have come up with many names for our production company some of the ideas that we have come up with are "Ink Productions" meaning that we can make a logo with a black ink droplet in the middle with the word ink in white. I have got the idea from many different production companies with the same type of logo.

I made this logo by first going on to the internet and finding a droplet of ink that look good enough quality to be able to put in to our media production, I then copied and pasted it on to word an put the writing on. We have come up with other logo designs with a black back ground and white ink droplet. We have asked some people which one is their favourite out of the few that we have made and the one with the white background seemed to be the most popular one out of them. So that is the one that we most likely are going to use at the beginning of our production. We may make a few changes to the logo to make it look slightly different and perhaps make it look slightly more detailed. however one of the reason we choose this design over the other designs is the simplicity of it how it is easily recognised.

These are some of the fonts that we have bee looking at. We may or may not use any of these fonts for our film opening. I have gotten these fonts off the website Da Font and are able to change the colour of the font if we want to.

We have come up with many of names for our media production and eventually we all agreed on a title that we believed would suite our film. These are some of our favourite names that we may call our film opening. In the end we have decided to call our media production "Condemned". We have decided to call our production condemned because of the abandoned farm that our protagonist will be taken in. We have done some research in what the name "condemned" means and have put a dictionary definition at the bottom.

We have asked people which one of these titles they like the best and all of them choose the title "Condemned" over the rest of the options. After asking them why they said that it is because it suites the plot of the movie better and the rest and also because they have never heard of a film called condemned which makes the title original.

For the clothing I have been looking at clothes from the same type of film that we are aiming to make, the thing that they all have in common is that they are all either dirty or ripped depending on the film. So for our film we are going to need to get some either old or some cheap clothes and make them fit in to the film by making them dirty and ripping them slightly. We may also introduce some fake blood to the rips to make it seem that it has also cut him. We want the clothes that the actors are going to be wearing in our production to be plain and simple so it does not draw your eye away from what we want you to look at. Also the clothes cannot be any bright colours such as yellow or else it would not fit in to the genre of the film.

For the interrogation part of our production we will only need a few props. One of which will be something to tie the persons hands up with like a cable tie or rope, the others props will be things in the back ground of the room to make the surroundings feel more realistic. However we want to keep the room where the interrogation is being placed to be quite empty. Other props that we may need are the weapons that we will have a close up on the table. Props such as a hammer, knife and pliers. We will use a close up on these props to show that our character has been tortured or will be to extract the information that they want. We may use fake blood on some of the shots to make the feeling of the interrogation more real.

This is where we are going to film most of our production it is a abandoned farm near Glen Parva. We thought that this would be a good idea to film here because of the surroundings in this area. We have been there a few times and it seems a good place to film the flash back part of our media production. The area is filled with things that we can use in the background to give our piece the eerie feel that we are looking for.

The interrogation part of our media production will be done against a plain wall will not much in the back ground. We are going to do this because we are going to make that section of our media production look as realistic as possible by making it look dark and eerie. We may have a few props in the background but other than that we want it to be empty. Except the two actors the interrogator and the person who is being interrogated.

We are going to film over a couple of days first we are going to film one day in the week that we get off. The next time we film with be either the Monday or Tuesday when we come back to school. We are going to film at around 5 o'clock because at this point it will begin to get dark but not to dark that we can't see anything.

This is a brainstorm of the ideas that we began with, we came up with four brief ideas and adapted our favourite one out of them. From there we were able to come up with more of a story line for the one that we wanted to do. The one that we choose to do was the field idea, that is becuase we felt that the rest of them have been done many times before and we wanted to do something different. We decided to do the cross cutting idea after we had chosen to do the field idea we did this because we thought that it would give our idea more depth that just having the whole film opening being placed in only one location.
